Hey there! I'm Johanna Domenech, though most of my clients simply call me "Jo." Supporting others through challenging emotional experiences has always been my passion. My approach centers on empowerment, conscious thinking, dual awareness, healing, and resilience. I believe in fostering growth through compassionate and collaborative counseling, helping individuals navigate their journey toward well-being. My mission is to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their inner selves, unlock hidden potential, and cultivate meaningful change.
At Conscious Thought Counseling, the goal is to deliver comprehensive and compassionate counseling services designed to support individuals in achieving mental health and well-being. My experience encompasses individual therapy, group therapy, and specialized modalities such as, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family systems (IFS), to name a few. As an experienced counselor, I am committed to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for all clients. I utilize evidence-based practices tailored to address the unique needs of each individual, ensuring a personalized and effective approach to mental health care.
My journey began years ago when I decided to embark on a career path that focused on helping others seek positive changes in their mental health. I moved to Texas in my early thirties to follow what I knew would be my first steps in becoming a therapist. There, I completed my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and moved on to obtain my license. I wanted to focus specifically on trauma, so I became trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). From there, I gained substantial experience as a trauma therapist at a holistic recovery center. Today, my goal is to share my passion with those seeking peace and stability amidst life’s challenges. My commitment to excellence ensures that I provide the highest standard of care to every client I serve.
My practice embraces inclusivity, cultural diversity, LGBTQ+ community, and all expressions of gender identity, while also providing a safe space for individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Therapy is a personal decision and can serve many purposes. Some people seek support to navigate long-term emotional challenges like anxiety or depression, while others turn to therapyduring significant life transitions, such as relationship challenges, career change, or loss. It can also be a space for self-discovery and personal growth. A skilled therapist can offer guidance, fresh perspectives, and practical tools to tackle a wide range of concerns, including stress, grief, conflict, self-esteem, and major life adjustments. Therapy is a valuable resource for anyone ready to take steps toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.
Therapy is a personalized experience tailored to address your unique needs and goals. During your sessions, the focus will be on exploring the challenges you face and developing strategies to overcome them. Therapy often involves a regular commitment, with weekly sessions lasting anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes, even longer with EMDR treatment. Some goals for therapy can be short-term for specific concerns, or long-term for deeper exploration and/or ongoing growth. Personalized growth often happens between sessions as you reflect on what’s been discussed and apply insights to your daily life. Therapy works best when you are actively involved, open to self-exploration, and committed to creating meaningful change

Yes, confidentiality is of the utmost importance in all communications between a client and their therapist. The law prohibits information from being shared without the client’s written consent. However, there are a few exceptions that deserve to be mentioned:
● Risk of self-harm: If a client is at risk of harming themselves, the therapist will make
every effort to collaborate with the client to ensure their safety. If those efforts are
unsuccessful, additional steps may be taken to protect the client.
● Suspected abuse: Therapists are mandated to report any suspected abuse of a child,
dependent adult, or elder to the appropriate authorities.
● Threats of harm to others: If a client makes a serious threat to harm another person,
the therapist is legally obligated to notify law enforcement
